We researched various fighter sites for this article, focusing specifically on marketing aspects of website design, and provide our findings below.
VITOR BELFORT | Score: 92
Vitor's website is solid in all areas. Great SEO (Search Engine Optimization) sets this fighter website apart from the others we've researched.
If you're looking for Vitor Belfort online, this website provides you with everything you will need. Whether you're looking to follow Vitor on social media networks or contact him and his management with a business proposition, you can easily do it all right here.
QUINTON JACKSON | Score: 86
Aside from a lack of updates in the NEWS section, Rampage's website has all of the essential tabs and pages for an effective fighter website. Social links are front-and-center, making it easy to connect with and follow the former champ around the web.
Not your typical fighter website, BJ's site is setup in forum community style. This is a place where MMA fans can congregate to find MMA news, engage in discussions, share photos, opinions and more. These types of websites provide the best user experience, giving visitors plenty of reasons to spend time on the site. BJ and his developers aim to make the site more of an MMA social network than a standard fighter website. There is no means of contacting BJ on this site, but again, that is not the intent of this particular online portal.
A similar website is SHANE CARWIN's | Score: 84
RICH FRANKLIN | Score: 81
"Ace" has a sleek and well-prioritized website, with lots of information and links to his social media accounts.
The younger Diaz brother has had a very good website created for him recently. In the past, finding the Diaz brothers online was near impossible, but we're happy to see that situation has changed.
This website provides tons of information on Nate and his MMA career. There are plenty of photos, videos and even a SHOP where you can purchase some Nate Diaz t-shirts.
He may be the champ, and his website may look good, but from a marketing standpoint, there is one serious hole in its game.
When we navigated to the CONTACT page, we were greeted with this message: "No longer accepting emails"
Granted, he is a busy man and would surely not be responsible himself for fielding emails submitted via his website, but not having a contact form on your website is not a good look.
Not only does it place a barrier between you and potential sources that can provide value, but a message like this on a contact page (though obviously not intended) comes across as being a bit self-righteous. It's as though you're saying "We've got everything we need. Don't bother contacting us with any of your thoughts, ideas or comments."
Although this website received a good marketing score when run through our marketing grader, a visit to the site tells a slightly different story.
When you arrive at roynelson.com, you're not quite sure you're in the right place due to the layout of the website. The image selection used in creating the site makes it look more like a link farm than a fighter's online home. The information you need is present, while the issue seems to lie more in the layout and page hierarchy of the site.
Cowboy's website looks like a spam website created by someone who is NOT Donald Cerrone, but a visit to his Twitter account confirmed that this is actually his official website.
The layout is simple and you can find plenty of info on Cowboy in the BIO, VIDEO and FIGHT RANCH sections. The rest of the site, however, is quite a mess. There is also no contact form on the site. Here is a website that is sure to amuse and confuse MMA fans and potential business partners.
